I am very sorry to trouble you with this letter no doubt you have had the sad news of the loss of my dear son who was killed in action on May 17th, 1916, and as he was my only help being a widow he allowed me money monthly I am quite destitute now as I have no one else to take his place for help.

I am sending to ask if it is possible you would

tell me if the H.K. Police allowed him any pension or would allow me any help if you will kindly do your best for me I shoul be very thankfull he was always a good son to me and I shall miss him very much I have all his papers with me if at any time it was nessary to show them trusting you will give me your

best attention.
